For professional data recovery engineers, what kind of steps should they follow to recover data for their customers?
1st, You receive one patient hard drive from customers, you should ask!
Ask what's the reason to cause the data losss, is it accidental deletion, format, or fail to read and write due to unexpected power loss;
Ask what the customer has done to the patient drive after the hdd failure;
Above information will help with a fast diagnosis and correct solution to restore the patient hard drive.
2nd, Check the HDD appearance;
Check If there's fake lable to mislead you to diagnose the HDD;
Check the screws and see if the hdd has been opened;
Check if there's any burn sign of the PCB
3rd, Power-on Test
If there's no obvious burn sign, power on to test if the drive is detected in the CMOS
4th, Select the right data recovery tools to repair or recover the data according to your diagnosis results(usually software for detected drives, software-hardware complex solutions for undetected drives.)
5th, Save your data and backup to a secured place, better to prepare multiple backups in different place or trusted online space, please note never save in the other partitions of the same patient drive.
6th, Securely erase your drive
