can be anything from the following

1)firmware corruption
2)pcb board faulty

if it was headstack damage your hear a clicking sound.

is it not picking up in the bios at all or does it come up with a diffrent name.

WD1600BEVS-07RST0

Postby jaco » Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:28 am

HI I have a WD Scorpio WD1600BEVS-07RST0 firmware- 04.01G04 it’s a ML80 Drive..
Drive read’s only every 292000 sectors.. indicate a dead head in the drive, so I replace the head stack assembly and drive is still the same..

Place the original heads back in my donor drive and the drive recalibrate 100% and can be read from sec 0-312mil sectors.
This makes the head stack assembly not the problem why the drive is not reading all the sectors.
I need firmware for this little drive.

Thanks
jaco

Welcome to "OPEN TO THE PUBLIC" this is what we get now on the forum. It is not easy to determine now the public section from the private section. I do believe that Public post in open Public section should be specially marked and not mixed with professional posts that people own this tool. You are making a mess of this forum and I can not see what posts would be helpful to answer and which one are public DIY people coming here that did not get an answer from HDDGURU or some other forum on how to fix and destroy their HDD. So it is suggested that if you want a Public section on this forum you should have them post only in Public and the header on it is from Public section only on it. This way we can determine if we give an answer to them or help them out in FW or other issue. I for one will not help out someone destroy their HDD by giving them advise in DIY repair on it. Think on this one if you want to keep this forum running well and get help for people who are DR companies or actually own your tools.

The public portion of this forum is purely for selling. It’s a pathetic idea. I purchased several tools from SD and expected a PRIVATE forum.
