I am also looking for this solution.
I have recovered a seagate barracuda sata drive, by connecting a computer to the service ports on the back of the drive and connected using hyperterminal. It cost me 15$ for parts and shipping and took 10minutes to fix....much better then spending hundreds at a data recovery place which will do the same thing. For that drive, I needed remove the board and separate the data pins from the motor by using a business card..., put the board back on, interfaced to the device , used commands to spin down the motor, enter new commands, pull the card out, spin up the motor, and disconnect from hyperterminal. I was able to boot the drive and flash it with the new firmware before it started clicking. I was told that a clicking drive means that the firware is corrupted and doesn't know what to do. This was back in August of 2009... I am still using it wihout any issues as of 3/26/10. I would imagine I would need to do the same for this drive. I have been searching on the internet to find the specific directions and firmware but have not found anything yet except for your post.
Were you able to find anything to help out your harddrive ? if you did, can you send it my way... If I find a solution I will send them your way as well.
