1. Question: A Barracuda V HDD can get ready when connecting to the console; but parameters are undetectable. Furthermore, there is seeking sound without clicking sound and PCBA has been changed. I need the data stored, what should I do?
Answer: Check data line connecting, the console and PCBA condition. Get to command mode to reset power and check what info can you get and contact with tech support.
 
2. Q: How to view head number in CMD mode?
A: Press ??in CMD mode, you will get the number of head by the value of MxHd. Head number equals to MxHd+1. For example, there are two heads if MxHd=1.
 
3. Q: How to find the matching ATA module in the case of ATA module missing?
A: Find the version of CERT and ROM of the HDD missing ATA module by E1 command in CMD mode and upload ATA module from a HDD with the same version of CERT and ROM.
 
4. Q: Spindle motor stopped when a U6 HDD performing SELFSCAN at AGE=3F. What to do next?
A: Input "N50,, 22?to turn to AGE=50 and then press CTRL+C to reset firmware. Click power off and on, check whether the HDD can be detected or not. If it can be detected, directly scanning and do Zerofill if there remain bad sectors.
 
5. Q: A U6 HDD can be detected with only model missing and it failed to be detected when I changed a PCBA. What's wrong?
A: It becomes undetectable, as ROM on PCBA is different. Try to change the ROM to original ROM on PCBA.
 
6. Q: A U6 HDD can be detected sometimes and sometimes can't. In CMD mode, AGE=60 and when I press CTRL+R it turns to AGE=50. Besides, no corrupted firmware. What's the problem?
A: It seems that there is something wrong with PCBA. Check whether contacts on PCBA have been oxidized or chips on PCBA have loosened.
 
7. Q: A U6 HDD sometimes can't be detected with "BOX BUSY? Indicator lights all the time. Sometimes it can be detected but very slowly and there are no problems with firmware backup and firmware check. Furthermore, G to P and HDD Rebuild don't function. What should I do?
A: In such case, maybe the heads are not stable. SELFSCAN is recommended for such problem.
 
8. Q: I have a Barracuda IV HDD with damages on PCBA and ROM. ATA module was missing and couldn't be uploaded after changing a PCBA. How should I do?
A: You need to change ROM of original HDD at the same time when you change PCBA. But if the ROM is bad, you need change a PCBA with a same FW version.
 
9. Q: A Barracuda IV HDD that can't be detected originally becomes detectable after FW Repair but full of bad sectors. Therefore I performed SELFSCAN. It lasted for about 3 to 4 hours and stop at AGE=02. Power off and power on, it remained. How should I do?
A: Check the information in CMD mode. If there is? UNABLE TO LOAD CERT TABLE? Stop SELFSCAN and upload Module 3 to continue.
 
10. Q: How to know PCBA version by firmware version for Barracuda 7200.7?
A: You can easily know PCBA version by firmware version for some HDD. Firmware version 3.06 corresponds PCBA version M14 and it is the same for 3.04 and M15 or 8.01 and M21. But for others, you have to collect.
