Data Compass standard
Data Compass standard is used for Duplication/Imaging/Partition/File Recovery. Data Compass standard is a comprehensive tool especially aimed at such logical malfunction as partition loss/file corruption virus attack/accidental disk format/file deletion and undetected by BIOS or OS/firmware corruption/clicking/physical damage on sectors/read instability after head swap/single head damaged. The disk probing device bypasses the disk-level problems such as multiple bad sectors, damaged surfaces, malfunctioning head assembly or corrupted servo info. Meantime you can use the default software provided or define any other software you have been familiar with (R-studio, WinHex, any) to perform file recovery. Through the Data Compass, patient drives will become intact drives and ready for file recovery attempts.
To sum up, data compass is the data recovery tool used in stage 2 and stage 3 extracting the data and file recovery. (Please refer to ‘3+1’ data recovery flow for more understanding)

Data Compass premium
Data Compass premium is a Hardware-Software Complex with all functions of Data Compass Standard and extra opportunity to deal with raid data recovery (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 5E and RAID 5EE). If RAID system is:
1) With segment disk(s) missing;
2) With parameters and/or configurations corrupted;
3) With hardware array card or server system damaged

General principles in data recovery
When you conduct data recovery, you need to comply with certain practices to make sure a safe process and avoid damaging the data again.
First, you have to identity the problems of accurately, in order to so you can refer to the description from user after disk corruption, and combining the symptom of disk with your rich experience. Then analyze the problem and choose solution, so that proper tools can be adopted to deal with the data recovery challenges.
For soft-level problems with intact disk, it is better to employ imaging technology to image a copy and choose tools of DOS, or using tools under Windows after carrying out relative procedure. Imaging tools have to be conduct with SECTOR TO SECTOR method.

For people inexperienced in data recovery, please shut down the power supply of disk the moment the data gets lost, and don’t do any writing operation which will get the repair worse and affect success rate.
Before conducting data recovery, you may firstly finish the following steps:
Backup all the usable data in the working drive
Inquiry your client:
Ask what had happened before data loss and whether they have handled the disk with other application program.
If possible, use suitable data recovery tools to backup the entire SA before doing any repair to the drive with any data recovery tool.
A good sector editor tool is necessary, for example WinHex
Obtain the information of users’ key files as possible as you can
Do remember to recover the easy-to-recover data foremost, and backup what you’ve got from time to time is always important.
