HDD Repair Tools:MT Depop Sections operation
|
Sections operation is an advanced function in Maxtor program; it could reduce the HDD capacity lost furthest which
cause by many bad sectors. Bad sectors occupy a very large proportion in the industry of HDD repair. In the past,
we usually scan the bad sectors and add them to the P-list, zerofill or even selfscan, those operations could solve
many logical problems, but for some physical bad sectors or some strong bad sectors, generally those measures
couldn't work well. The only valid way is depop head, this measure not only would lose half capacity in the largest,
but also limit by the technology development, for example: many HDDs couldn t support that function, and some
of the heads are not allowed to depop.
In Sections operation, the capacity has been partitioned as 16 sections by LBA. We could do operation on each
section, not only focus on scan this section, avoid scan all HDD many times to conclude where are the bad sectors;
but also could depop this section by each head directly.
Sections function just supports multi-head HDD after 4D.First, set the HDD to safe model; connect to the computer with Maxtor console, run the program, wait for Ready
status and load fromHDD Repair tools:

Choose the Sections operation and click "Load Section Table", we can see the section distribution:

Maxtor program partition the HDD to16 sections, as 00-0F, each one include the track beginning info, track ending
info, heads info, LBA beginning info and LBA ending info:

When we choose one of the sections, it will be shown on the frame:
Then click "start scanning", program will scan the bad sectors in this sections under the chosen head:
