DCK is amazing after the new upgrade
|
We downloaded the latest upgrade program of DCK of August 31, 2011 and simply upgraded our DCK to the latest version. For a test purpose, we thereafter found one faulty drive we were unable to copy any single sector with another popular disk imager-UDMA DE.
The faulty drive was WD5000AAKS-00TMA0, ROYL,TORNADO family, western Digital drives. The drive had bad modules like GLIST RELO and few others. copy 1 was ok. I had to relocate GLIST and RELO to write the good ones back. SMART failed also and therefore I repaired it. After that, the drive was detected but very slow to get ready.
In PC3k UDMA, I could read sectors from 0 to 62 and then hung and i could read again some sectors from LBA 238538 (but only some sectors), so i was thinking on zone adaptives modules but no problem with them. Then I tried to image with PC3000 DE, it was useless. I checked if it was head related problem but the bad sectors were not on a head in particular.
I connected the faulty drive with DCK and started the program, because the drive was damaged with a lot of bad sectors, I therefore select the UDMA33, a low data transfer mode without highspeed, I set the jump on max values. When the DCK started, it was amazing to see that DCK could read until sector 265 (not 62) and could easily jump the bad sectors. At that moment, the faulty drive is imaged at 17% with 524432 jumped sectors that i would try to read for a second time. Anyway, it is a great difference from no sector copy.
I like your DCK upgrade, it's amazing indeed, thank you for your great efforts.
