Today we received a Toshiba 40GB MK4021GAS hdd. It came from another company repair shop. We were :(.
Because motor would not spin up fully. We could get NO response from PC3k. We cycled power on Hard drive data recovery tool -Data Compass v5.0 and increase power it recognized and spin up.
The hard drive made very loud noise (bearings). We suspect bad bearings, so we leave power ON.
- Launched DC Explorer (new version).
- Selected DC Console device and grab MY PICTURES (client/customer expressed ONLY picture VERY important!).
We succeeded 100% with My Pictures folder recovery using DC and DCexplorer.
Hard Drive has been on for several hours and we have retrieve the most important files.
This hard drive is very very noisy and makes many sounds and will likely die at any moment. However, we consider it very much like DataExtractor in ability to retrieve data immediately when time is limited.
We are now imaging drive and will try for 100% data. Customer only want “MY PICTURES” folder, but of course we only wish to try to succeed even more.
